MANCHESTER'S LOCAL PUBLIC SERVICE AGREEMENT
Manchester's second Local Public Service Agreement (LPSA2) was a series of 13 targets set over three years which the Council and its partners signed up to in order improve outcomes for Manchester residents and target services where they're needed most.
A Performance Reward Grant of more than £6.6 million was achieved for reaching LPSA 2 performance targets in 2005-08.
We are able to claim reward grant for targets related to:
-
Reducing empty and blighted properties
-
Reducing Domestic Burglaries
-
Increasing Community Cohesion
-
Reducing 16-19 year olds who are NEET (not in education, employment or training)
-
Increasing attainment at KS4 GCSE
-
Levels of litter and detritus
-
Reducing Anti-Social Behaviour by children and young people
-
% of people who feel they can influence decisions.
A second claim will be submitted against the LPSA2 at the start of 2010, to enable us to claim additional reward grant against targets for which final data is not yet available (including KS2 attainment, transport and life expectancy). If we are successful in meeting these remaining targets, the total reward grant for the LPSA2 will rise to £9,315,991
The reward grant acquired under LPSA2 will contribute towards other service improvements.
Whilst the work that will contribute to meeting LPSA2 targets has now been completed, the outcomes that the agreement looked to achieve are still important priorities.
Targets related to the vast majority of LPSA2 targets are included in the City's new Local Area Agreement and will continue to be monitored and managed through the State of the City framework. In this way, Council and Partnership activity will continue to be focussed on improving these outcomes for local people.
