COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Community engagement provides people with opportunities to have a greater say in what happens in Manchester.
Community engagement has been formally adopted by the Manchester Partnership and is embedded in its decision making.
Communities can be:
* of place
* of interest
* of identity
By listening to residents in their communities the service providers can make sure that resources are targeted to areas with the most need and in the most appropriate way.
The Manchester Partnership engages with communities in a range of ways. Partner agencies have their own organised systems for engaging with local people, many of which are brought together through the Manchester Partnership. Locally based partnerships are central to community engagement and a range of channels exist through which local people can voice their needs and concerns.
The community is represented on the Manchester Partnership through the Community Network for Manchester (CN4M).
CN4M links together geographical neighbourhoods and communities of common interest and concern in order to release 'people power' to shape the future of the city.
